Women in NDA: Complete Guide to the Women Special Entry Scheme

Since 2021-22, NDA has opened its doors to women aspirants, giving them a direct path into the Army, Navy and Air Force alongside male cadets. Here is what women aspirants need to know.
Eligibility and Entry
Women candidates apply through the same NDA notification and appear for the identical written exam and SSB process as male candidates. Age, educational qualification (Class 12 pass, with Physics and Mathematics for Air Force/Navy) and marital status (unmarried) requirements mirror the general eligibility criteria.
Training at NDA
Women cadets train alongside their male counterparts at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, following the same three-year joint training schedule before proceeding to their respective service academies for pre-commission training.
Physical and Medical Standards
Height, weight and medical standards for women candidates are specified separately in the official notification and should be checked carefully, since they differ from the male candidate standards in several respects.
Preparing as a Woman Aspirant
Academic preparation for Mathematics, English and GK remains the same for all candidates. For SSB, building physical fitness, confidence in group tasks, and comfort with outdoor GTO activities is equally important. A dedicated, supportive training environment can help first-generation women aspirants adapt quickly to the discipline required.
